Loupe Product Zoom — Privacy Policy

Loupe Product Zoom (“Loupe”) is a Shopify app that adds zoom to product photos in a merchant’s online store. This policy explains what information Loupe collects when a merchant installs it and how that information is used.

Information Loupe stores

When a merchant installs Loupe, Shopify shares the store’s myshopify.com domain and an access token with the app. Loupe stores this session only so the app can work in the Shopify admin. Loupe requests no Shopify API access scopes: it does not read or store products, orders, customers, or any other store data.

Shoppers and customers

The zoom runs in the shopper’s browser through a Shopify theme app extension. It does not collect, store, or send any information about shoppers, and it does not set cookies or use tracking. Loupe does not have access to customer personal data.

Billing

Subscriptions are handled by Shopify. Loupe only checks with Shopify whether the store has an active subscription, and saves that yes/no answer in the store as app data, so the zoom runs only for stores with an active plan or free trial. That value contains no personal information, and Shopify deletes it when the app is uninstalled. Loupe never sees or stores payment details.

Where the information is kept

The app runs on Netlify, which hosts the stored sessions. The information is not sold or shared with anyone else.

Retention and deletion

When a merchant uninstalls Loupe, the store’s session is deleted. Loupe also responds to Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks: data requests and redaction requests for customers (Loupe holds no customer data) and shop redaction, which deletes anything left for that store.
